Uhmm… I’m sorry you did WHAT to your laptop?!
So get to work this morning, and no sooner have I sat down and started in on my daily routine and our secretary comes into my “office” and informs me that she has my “first task of the day”. What scares me is that she is clutching her notebook as though it were an injured child. The poor woman looked quite distraught. She then proceeded to inform me that she had dropped this note book computer on the ground and that it no longer worked (I know, I know… DUH!)
So she goes on to explain that she dropped it directly on top of the wireless receiver for her Logitech Notebook mouse which now looks like this:
So now you must be wondering what the rest of the computer looks like. Well here it is, and suffice it to say, it’s pretty much a write-off. Note the USB port and the ceramic component that have been ripped off the motherboard. I am pretty sure that’s a bad thing.
The list of damages that I am aware of:
- USB port broken off. I may be able to repair this as I know where to find the parts.
- The ceramic component. I have no idea what it is or what it’s function is, but I am certain that it needs to be attached for the computer to function. I may be able to reattach it if I can’t get a replacement part.
- One of the hold down screws for the CPU heatsink has been bent and ripped out of it’s socket. This means chassis damage and therefore the whole machine is a write-off.
