Uhmm… I’m sorry you did WHAT to your laptop?!

So get to work this morning, and no sooner have I sat down and started in on my daily routine and our secretary comes into my “office” and informs me that she has my “first task of the day”. What scares me is that she is clutching her notebook as though it were an injured child. The poor woman looked quite distraught. She then proceeded to inform me that she had dropped this note book computer on the ground and that it no longer worked (I know, I know… DUH!)

So she goes on to explain that she dropped it directly on top of the wireless receiver for her Logitech Notebook mouse which now looks like this:

Busted logitech receiver

So now you must be wondering what the rest of the computer looks like. Well here it is, and suffice it to say, it’s pretty much a write-off. Note the USB port and the ceramic component that have been ripped off the motherboard. I am pretty sure that’s a bad thing.

That USB port looks pretty deep in there.Aren’t those supposed to be attached?Busted the heatsink too

The list of damages that I am aware of:

  1. USB port broken off. I may be able to repair this as I know where to find the parts.
  2. The ceramic component. I have no idea what it is or what it’s function is, but I am certain that it needs to be attached for the computer to function. I may be able to reattach it if I can’t get a replacement part.
  3. One of the hold down screws for the CPU heatsink has been bent and ripped out of it’s socket. This means chassis damage and therefore the whole machine is a write-off.

New theme

I got bored with the last theme, so I installed this one

Some times you just get a good deal….

I always feel bad for people who get their bikes stolen, although it’s usually because they don’t use good locks.

That said, I just got a killer deal on a bike at a police auction in Coquitlam BC where they liquidate all the unclaimed seized bikes.

Long and short of it. I bought a 2002 or 2003 (not sure yet what year it is) Trek Fuel 100 full suspension mountain bike for $250 + 15% buyers premium plus taxes for a total of around $300. MSRP on that bike when it was released was around $4200.00 to $4750.00!

Pictures are here

Edit: The front rim is not the original, and both tires are completely flat and don’t hold any air. But as soon as the bike shop down the road is open again after the holidays I will have that fixed.

Update on the car.

I got a phone call from the body shop today, the car won’t be ready until Monday now, as the rear glass had to be replaced to fix the dent on the hatch, and the glass is specialty item.

Update (Monday): Got another call from the body shop, the car won’t be finished until Tuesday, maybe Wednesday afternoon.

I miss my golf…

Car’s in the shop….

Well as a result of the Deer and some Vandals I had to take my car in to the body shop and get some repairs done.

All in all it should cost me about $800

$300 deductible - Deer

$300 deductible - Vandal

$200 deductible - New windshield ( it was recommended that I get done)

I will post some pictures once it’s done. I should have it back this Saturday.

Oh Deer, and Vandals too!

I am seriously starting to think I should give up on having nice cars and start riding my bike.

Sunday night I hit a deer on 0Ave and around 180th St.:

Then on Monday night the car was vandalized:

The unfortunate part of this is that now ICBC wants two deductibles of $300 each.

I am sick of having bad Carma. (For those thinking “No he didn’t” Oh yes, yes I did!)

Burnouts from around the world, okay it’s just Europe and Iraq
